Patients from ten nearby districts come to Kanpur Medical College and LLR Hospital for treatment every day, out of which about 200 eye patients come for treatment every day, but problems related to eyesight make many patients return disappointed. Now this bank is being built to keep the cornea of the eyes safe, in which it will be kept safe for a month.
A bank is being built to preserve 400 corneas for the eye department of Kanpur Medical College. The number of corneas to be preserved in the medical college is only 40 to 50 and every day 30 to 35 people apply to get their eyesight back. In view of the ever-increasing number of patients, the first eye bank is now being built in Kanpur.
Two labs will be built in the eye bank
The eye bank to be built in Kanpur will be built as a two-storey building. Special heaters and refrigerators will be installed to keep the temperature balanced to keep the cornea safe. Along with this, talks are also being held with the Side Saver Institute of America, in which two labs will also be built.
Now patients will not have to return disappointed
Dr Shalini Mohan, the head of the eye department, said that this lab will be built soon and it will cost about 50 lakh rupees to build it. The ground breaking ceremony for this eye bank has also been done and soon this eye bank will provide great relief to eye patients. Patients will get great relief with the construction of this bank. Medical college principal Dr Sanjay Kala says that patients come here from far away places to get treatment and now they will not have to return disappointed.
