News Topical, Digital Desk : So many movies and TV series have been made on Superman. A fictional character that made everyone from children to adults believe that there is a superhero inside everyone. Now, from 'Spiderman' to 'Hulk', Wonder Woman, Batman, Captain America, Green Lantern, Thor, Black Panther, Iron Man, Wolverine, many superhero characters are seen by the audience in different movies on screen.
Although, the uncrowned king of superhero movies will always be 'Superman', but have you ever wondered who thought of creating this historical character. Why could the person who created the biggest superhero of global cinema never claim the character of 'Superman'? Let's know some interesting things about Superman:
92 years ago two friends created Superman
During school time, we create many such characters on a page, which are made just for fun. One such character was created by Jerry Siegel and Shuster. In the year 1933, they created the character of 'Superman' while studying at Glenville High School. Actually, when Jerome aka Jerry, a resident of Cleveland, was studying, he used to write for the school newspaper, and it was there that he first created 'Superman'. His friend Joe Shuster, a resident of Toronto, first prepared the initial drawings of Superman.
Both of them entered the comic book business together in the year 1936. They wrote and illustrated not the Superman character but other adventure strips for New Fun Comics, Inc. Their creation of Superman became famous worldwide and many creators were inspired by it and made profits, but the original creator of 'Superman' did not get any benefit from his famous character.
Why did the creator of Superman have to suffer poverty
In 1938, publisher Harry Donenfeld bought Superman's drawings for $135, which he published in Action Comics that same year. That one publication increased the popularity of this fictional superhero so much that after that, Superman magazine, syndicated newspaper comic strips, a show on the Mutual Radio Network, animated cartoons and a 15-episode movie serial, 2 feature films and in 1950, a complete television series of 104 episodes was made on it.
On one hand, while the character of Superman was everywhere, its creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster went into complete obscurity and poverty. In fact, they did not even know that their character would one day become the favorite of the whole world. In such a situation, when they sold this character to Donenfeld for a low amount of 135 dollars, they lost all the rights of the character of 'Superman'. Due to the signature on the deal form, both of them had to work for Harry for 10 years at a salary of 35 dollars per page, which was not even half the amount of the profit made from Superman's comic.
'Superman' had slipped out of our hands forever
In 1948, when his contract with Harry Donenfeld ended, he fought in court for the copyright of the Superman character. He was paid $100,000 for the character, but lost the case, and lost all involvement he had with the Superman comic. While Siegel continued to create comic characters for newspapers, Shuster had a lot of trouble finding work. In 1975, after pressure from the Cartoonist Society, Warner Communications agreed to pay Shuster $20,000 a year and include his name in future Superman film series.
So far 15 films and series have been made on Superman
Many films have been made on superheroes, but if we talk only about the character 'Superman', then the first serial on this came in the year 1948, in which Kirk Allen played the role of a superhero. Atom Man vs Superman TV series came in 1950. The series of Superman's film series did not stop here. In the year 1978, Warner Bros brought a film on Superman, which became a huge hit. After this, this series of Superman franchise did not stop.
