
News Topical, Digital Desk : Before the assembly elections in Bihar, politics has heated up across the country regarding SIR. Meanwhile, a hearing was also held in the Supreme Court on this matter on Tuesday (12 August). Social activist Yogendra Yadav presented his arguments regarding the irregularities that took place during SIR. He also thanked the Supreme Court for giving him time. Yogendra Yadav called SIR the biggest exercise to deprive people of voting rights in democracy.
Yogendra Yadav wrote on the social media platform X, “I am grateful to the Hon'ble Supreme Court for allowing me to present my arguments in the matter of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Voter Lists and that too after normal court hours.”
SIR Big change in the structure of democracy- Yogendra Yadav
He further said, "This is not a matter of revision of voter list in a single state, but a matter of weakening the universality of adult franchise. SIR is a major change in the structure of democracy, the biggest exercise of disenfranchisement in any democracy."

Along with this, Yogendra Yadav thanked the legal team including senior lawyers Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Prashant Bhushan, Vrinda Grover, Gopal Shankarnarayan and Shadan Farasat. He said that he is proud of this legal team for foiling the unconstitutional policy.
Yogendra Yadav called SIR a failure
Social activist Yogendra Yadav, appearing for a woman and a man in the apex court, said that they have been declared 'dead' in the draft voter list released after the SIR process in Bihar. He also said that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign conducted by the Election Commission was unsuccessful and due to this 65 lakh voters in Bihar were affected.
