The United States on Monday banned a right-wing online network "Terrorgram", declaring it a terrorist organisation and accusing it of promoting violent activities to promote white supremacy in the country.
The US State Department said in a statement that it has declared this organization and its three leaders as specially designated global terrorists. This action freezes any kind of assets of the organization.
The organization is operated on Telegram
This organization mainly operates its activities on the Telegram social media site. The statement said that this organization not only promoted the attacks but also provided help for the attacks. This includes a shooting outside a bar in Slovakia in the year 2022, a planned attack on energy installations in New Jersey in 2024 and a knife attack in a mosque in Turkey in August.
The organization provides all kinds of help during the attack
The Foreign Ministry said, "This organization promotes violent white supremacy, seeks to attack perceived opponents and provides all kinds of support for attacks, including on important infrastructure and government officials."
According to the US State Department, all the assets of the group in the US will be confiscated. No American will be able to do any transactions with it. The three leaders of the organization who have been declared global terrorists were currently based in Brazil, Croatia and South Africa.
Attempts to incite racial war
In September, US prosecutors unveiled criminal charges against two of the group's leaders, saying they used Telegram to attack blacks, Jews and immigrants with the aim of inciting a race war. Britain also said in April that it would ban the Terrorgram Collective as a terrorist organisation.
Before leaving, US President Joe Biden has taken major action against white supremacy. Earlier in 2021, Biden launched the first US national strategy to combat domestic terrorism.
