An important meeting is going to be held on Tuesday regarding the telecom sector. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is going to hold an important meeting with telecom companies today. CNBC Awaaz has received this exclusive information from sources. Akash Ambani, Rajan Bharti Mittal and Vodafone Idea's Akshay Mundra may attend this meeting. Companies can raise the issue of AGR in this meeting. Recently, the Supreme Court has rejected the curative petition on AGR. At the same time, according to the government, no demand has been received from the companies yet. The Union Minister has clarified that further consideration will be done on the demand coming from the companies in this matter. Earlier, he said that at present the government is examining the order of the Supreme Court.
On Monday itself, the Union Minister had said that the government is currently looking at the impact of the Supreme Court's rejection of the petition filed by the companies to recalculate the AGR dues. He also said that with the presence of 4 telecom service providers, India's telecom sector is in a very strong position. This decision of the Supreme Court has given a big blow to telecom companies, especially Vodafone Idea. In fact, the company is already surrounded by cash-related problems and the company has to pay a large amount of AGR dues. Along with this, the company also has to make a big investment to stay in the market. In such a situation, it is possible that the issue of AGR can be raised in today's meeting.
Vodafone Idea has started work on a capex plan of more than $ 6 billion. On Sunday itself, the company informed that it has signed deals worth more than 3.5 billion with Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for the supply of equipment. Vodafone Idea's stock is seeing a decline of more than one percent today.
