Israel Hamas War  The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas seems to be postponed once again. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shown a tough stance against Hamas. On Sunday, Netanyahu said that until Israel receives a list of hostages to be released from Hamas, the ceasefire in Gaza will not begin.

Israel-Hamas ceasefire stuck 

Barely an hour before the ceasefire, the Israeli PM reiterated his warning, again diminishing the chances of a ceasefire. Meanwhile, Hamas blamed "technical reasons" for the delay in submitting the names. It said in a statement that it is committed to the ceasefire agreement announced last week.

Israeli leaders opposed the agreement

Let us tell you that the agreement with Hamas for ceasefire in Gaza and release of hostages was approved by the Israeli cabinet on Saturday after a meeting lasting more than six hours. According to local media, eight members of the cabinet opposed the agreement, while 24 ministers supported the agreement. Opponents said that this agreement reflects surrender to Hamas.

Israel is still bombing

The Israeli Justice Ministry has published a list of 737 Palestinian prisoners who are to be released under a deal that halts the conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes have continued to carry out attacks in Gaza since the deal was agreed.

Israel bombed the area on Saturday. Five people have been killed in air strikes in Gaza. The Palestinian Civil Emergency Service said 123 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombing since the ceasefire agreement was announced on Wednesday.

Let us tell you that on October 7, 2023, Hamas carried out a massive attack in Israel, in which about 1200 people were killed. More than 250 were taken hostage. After this, 46899 people have been killed so far in the military operation conducted by Israel in Gaza.

The agreement will be done in three phases

The agreement, brokered by the US and Qatar, was announced on Wednesday. Hamas said on Friday that all obstacles to a ceasefire in Gaza have been removed. Hamas has already accepted this agreement. This ceasefire agreement is a three-phase one.

Under the agreement, Hamas will release 33 out of 98 hostages in the first phase of six weeks. All of them will be women, children and people above 50 years of age. In return, Israel will release about two thousand Palestinians from its jails. These include some terrorists like Ahmed Barghouti. Barghouti is serving life imprisonment for killing Israelis.

Israel's Justice Ministry said 30 Palestinian prisoners would be released in exchange for each female hostage on Sunday. Following Sunday's hostage release, lead US negotiator Brett McGurk said the agreement would see the release of four more female hostages seven days later. The remaining 26 hostages would be released over the next five weeks.
