Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams (Sunita Williams Latest News) has been stuck in space for six months with her fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore. It has been six months on Thursday since both of them went into space. There are still two more months left to return to Earth.
Both of them went into space on June 5 in Boeing's new Starliner crew capsule. They were supposed to return in a week, but due to a malfunction in the Starliner spacecraft, both of them are stranded on the International Space Station.
Campaign to bring back Sunita and Wilmore
NASA deemed the spacecraft too risky for a return flight, so they will have to wait until February to return to Earth. NASA has begun its campaign for the return of Sunita and Wilmore.
The SpaceX Crew-9 mission was launched on 28 September 2024 for the return of both astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore. Two astronauts have been sent in it, so that they can bring back Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore while returning.
