Vrat Katha

According to Sanatan scriptures, in ancient times, a businessman had two daughters. Both were religious in nature. They had special interest in religion. They used to worship Lord Vishnu daily. They also used to observe the fast of Poornima. By the grace of Lord Vishnu, both of them got married in a high-class family. Even after this, both of them used to observe the fast of Poornima.

However, the younger daughter was not able to keep the fast completely. For this, she used to eat food in the evening. Due to this, the virtuous results of the fast were not achieved. On the other hand, the elder daughter got a son due to the virtue of the fast. After this, by continuously observing the Purnima fast, the younger daughter also got a child. However, the child did not live long. Once upon a time, the younger daughter was sitting in mourning for the child.

Just then her elder sister came. At that time she was grieving the loss of her son. At that very moment the younger sister's son came back to life on being touched by the elder sister's clothes. Seeing this the younger sister became very happy and started crying with joy. Then the elder sister explained the significance of the Poornima fast. From that time onwards the younger sister observed the Poornima fast according to the prescribed rituals. She also advised other people to observe the fast. Since then the fast is observed on the Poornima Tithi. Observing the Sharad Purnima fast strengthens the Moon in the Kundali. With the Moon being strong in the Kundali, the native gets success in every task.
