Share Market Today: Both the major stock market indexes closed with a marginal gain today on 17 September. While the Sensex rose by 90 points, the Nifty closed above 25,400. However, profit booking was seen in small and medium stocks. The BSE midcap and smallcap index closed with a decline of 0.08 percent and 0.13 percent respectively. Due to this, the wealth of stock market investors decreased by about Rs 26,000 crore today. During today's trading, telecom, auto and construction stocks saw a rise. On the other hand, metal stocks declined.

 

At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex rose 90.88 points or 0.11 per cent to close at 83,079.66. The NSE's 50-share index, Nifty, rose 34.80 points or 0.14 per cent to close at 25,418.55.

 

Investors lost ₹26,000 crore

The total market capitalization of companies listed on BSE has come down to Rs 470.21 lakh crore today on 17 September, from Rs 470.47 lakh crore on its previous trading day i.e. Friday 16 September. In this way, the market cap of companies listed on BSE has decreased by about Rs 26,000 crore today. Or in other words, investors' wealth has declined by about Rs 26,000 crore.
