The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory for 14 states, forecasting rain accompanied by thunderstorms and hailstorms. Simultaneously, several regions are experiencing an unusual increase in temperatures.

States Under Rain and Hailstorm Warning

The IMD predicts that parts of East and Northeast India will experience isolated to scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms over the next 4-5 days.

This includes states such as Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Weather Conditions in Northern India

A fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayan Region, leading to light to moderate isolated to scattered rainfall or snowfall over the region during the week.

Rising Temperatures in Other Regions

Contrastingly, regions such as Delhi have been experiencing unseasonably warm weather this February, with temperatures recorded at 12 degrees Celsius above normal.

Similarly, the IMD has noted that Bengaluru is likely to experience higher temperatures than Delhi in 2025, indicating a significant shift in weather patterns.

Implications

The combination of severe weather events in some states and rising temperatures in others poses challenges for agriculture, water resources, and daily life. Authorities and residents are advised to stay informed through official IMD updates and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of these weather fluctuations.
