Pune: A case similar to Badlapur has come to light in Pune, Maharashtra. A case of sexual abuse of two six-year-old girls by a school van driver has come to light in Wanwadi area of ​​Pune. The incident happened when the girls were returning home in the van from school on September 30. On the complaint of the girls' mother, the police have arrested 45-year-old van driver Sanjay Reddy.

The officer of Wanwadi police station informed that on September 30, the girls were returning home from school in a van. Then the driver allegedly sexually abused both the girls. One girl informed her mother about the incident after reaching home, while the other remained scared. After this, the girl's mother contacted the police and on Wednesday, a case was registered against the van driver at Wanwadi police station.

The police officer further said that the accused Sanjay Reddy was arrested and produced in the court, from where he was sent to police custody till October 8. Investigation is going on in this case.

Was there no female attendant in the van at the time of the incident?

The police team is also trying to find out whether the accused has targeted other girls in this manner. Whether a female attendant was present in the school van at the time of the incident or not. Whether the van belonged to the school or was it taken from a contractor. According to the rules of Maharashtra, it is mandatory to have a female attendant in school buses and vans.

Under which sections action was taken against the accused?

The accused has been booked under sections 64 and 65(2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), which deal with the offence of raping girls under the age of 12. The accused has also been booked under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

Maharashtra State Women's Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar has sought a detailed report of the incident from the police. She has also asked for strict action against the accused.

Let us tell you that earlier in Badlapur of Thane district, a contracted sweeper had sexually abused two four-year-old girls in the school toilet. In that case too, the accused Akshay Shinde was arrested, who was killed in a police encounter on 23 September.
