New Delhi: Sharda Sinha, who made her mark as a popular singer of Bihar, died on November 5. She was 72 years old. Sharda Sinha was admitted to AIIMS Delhi where she was on ventilator support.

She was suffering from blood cancer for the past six years and was admitted to the hospital on October 26 after her condition deteriorated. Her body will be flown to Patna on Wednesday where she will be cremated.

Got popularity by singing Chhath song

She was also known as Bihar Kokila. Her songs are often played in Chhath, wedding and many such functions. Apart from this, she also sang many songs for Bollywood, including the song 'Kahe Tose Sajna' from the film Maine Pyar Kiya. She got 76 rupees for this. Apart from this, she also sang the song 'Taar Bijli Se Patle Hamare Piya' from the film Gangs of Wasseypur.

Apart from this, he also sang the farewell song Babul from Salman Khan's film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. Years later, he sang the song Nirmohia from the web series Maharani. His last Chhath song is 'Dukhva Mitai Chhathi Maiya'.

How did this start?

Sharda Sinha was born on 1 October 1952 in Hulas of Supaul district of Bihar. She was the only sister among 8 siblings for whom many requests were made. She was fond of music since childhood, so she made a career in it. After doing PSD in music, she became a professor in a college in Samastipur. Sharda Sinha's husband's name was Brij Kishore Sinha. Her in-laws are in Begusarai.

Mother-in-law did not like Sharda Sinha singing the song

Sharda Sinha was in shock after her husband passed away some time ago. Her husband retired from the post of regional deputy director in the education department. Sharda Sinha's husband knew her talent well and supported her a lot. Her father-in-law also supported her a lot. However, Sharda Sinha's mother-in-law did not like her singing and playing outside.

Sharda Sinha recorded 62 Chhath songs in nine albums with T-Series, HMV and Tips. She sang songs in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi languages. 'Kelva Ke Pat Par Ugalan Surajmal Jhuke Jhuke' and 'Suna Chhathi Mai' are among her famous Chhath songs. Chhath festival is incomplete without Sharda Sinha's songs. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991 and the Padma Bhushan in 2018.
