PM Narendra Modi will visit Sri Lanka in April

​Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka on April 5, 2025, following his participation in the BIMSTEC summit in Thailand on April 4. This visit, marking his first trip to Sri Lanka since the change in leadership, aims to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in various sectors.​

Connectivity Initiatives: Discussions are underway to establish a new ferry route between Rameshwaram, India, and Talaimanner, Sri Lanka, to boost people-to-people connections and tourism. 

Energy Collaboration: Plans include a multi-product petroleum pipeline linking Nagapattinam in India to Trincomalee in Sri Lanka, with the Indian Oil Corporation playing a pivotal role. 

Power Grid Connectivity: Both nations are exploring the feasibility of connecting their power grids to enhance energy security and cooperation. ​

This visit underscores the commitment of India and Sri Lanka to deepen their partnership, focusing on infrastructure development, energy cooperation, and technological integration for mutual growth and prosperity.
