The Academy Awards 2025 is to be held after two months. Indian films have always been a contender for the world's biggest film awards, some of which have reached the nomination process but have failed to taste victory. 

Now the name of South superstar Surya's film Kanguva has come up in the race for the  97th Oscar Awards, which has given a new topic of discussion to the entertainment world. Not only Kanguva but these 5 Indian films have also presented their claim for the Oscars.

Kanguwa raised a voice for Oscar 2025

The Oscar Awards were started in 1929 and now this award is in the news for its 97th edition, which will be held on 2 March 2025 in Los Angeles. South film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan has given information about Kanguva's Oscar entry on her official X account. In her tweet, a list of Academy Awards has been released, in which Kanguva's name is also there.

It is being said that Kanguva has presented its claim in the Best Feature Film category. However, Dainik Jagran does not officially confirm this matter. If this is so, then it is yet to be shortlisted for nomination. This time around 323 films had presented their claim for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards, out of which 207 movies have been rejected. 

Now it will be interesting to see whether Surya's Kanguva is able to move forward in the Oscar Awards 2025 or not. Earlier, the film Lapata Ladies made in Aamir Khan's production house has already been out of the Oscar race.

Not only Surya's Kanguva but the names of these 5 Indian films are being said to be included in the Oscar race. Which are as follows- 

Let us tell you that Santosh, a film with an Indian cast, has been shortlisted for nomination in the International Feature Film category for the Academy Awards 2025 as the United Kingdom's entry. While Oscar winner producer Guneet Monga's film Anuja has been shortlisted in the Live Action Short Film category. 

When will the voting for nominations take place? 

Voting for the nominations of the movies shortlisted for the 97th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards will begin on January 8 and will continue till January 12. After this, the movies nominated for Oscars 2025 will be officially announced on January 17.
