The special 'Kanda Express Train' from Maharashtra carrying onions has reached Delhi. The supply of onion will increase to reduce the price
To reduce the price of onion before Diwali, the government has decided to supply 1,600 tonnes of onion to the wholesale markets of Delhi with the help of Indian Railways. On reaching Delhi, 2,500 to 2,600 tonnes of onion will be supplied daily to the markets of Delhi and its surrounding areas. The onion has come to Delhi from Nasik in 42 coaches of the train.
Preparations to give relief to other states as well
Recently, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare had said that like Delhi, this system will be implemented in other states of the country. Our focus is to expand to Lucknow, Varanasi and the northeastern states including Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
