Vrindavan.  On Nirjala Ekadashi on Monday, Thakur Bankebihari's city was bustling with devotees. The devotees kept a waterless fast and took a bath in the Yamuna at dawn and then started the Panchkosiya Parikrama to have darshan of Thakur Bankebihari. From dawn, groups of devotees were passing through the Parikrama route, dancing and singing the bhajans of the Lord. As the day progressed, the pressure of the crowd started increasing. On Tuesday too, a large number of devotees have camped before the doors opened.

Various religious rituals were performed on Nirjala Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. Nirjala Ekadashi fast will be observed on Tuesday in most temples and ashrams. After taking bath in Yamuna in the morning, Yamuna Maharani was anointed with water and milk with Vedic chanting.

Devotees arrived in large numbers on Tuesday

This Ekadashi fast is observed without drinking water. It means that water is not consumed during this fast. It is believed that observing this Ekadashi fast gives the same results as observing the 24 Ekadashi fasts of the year. This time the date of Vraj has been fixed on Tuesday in most places.

On Nirjala Ekadashi, a crowd of devotees gathered to have darshan of Thakur Bankebihari. A long queue was formed at Thakurji's door. This sequence of crowd started from Vidyapeeth Chauraha, which was seen till inside. Passing through the railing, the devotees reached street number three of the temple. Then the police stopped the devotees at the barricades and allowed them to move ahead.
