After the formation of interim government of Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh, relations between India and Bangladesh have soured considerably.

People from the Hindu community are being attacked every day in the neighboring country. From Prime Minister Modi to many world leaders have expressed concern over this. Meanwhile, the scheduled foreign secretary level talks between Bangladesh and India have been organized in Dhaka on 9 or 10 December.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will visit Bangladesh on 9 December

Randhir Jaiswal, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, has informed that Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on December 9 and will meet his counterpart and will have several other meetings during the visit. Foreign Office Consultations led by the Foreign Secretary are a structured engagement. This meeting is going to prove to be very important for both the countries.

Mohammad Ashrafur Rahman will also be a part of the conversation

Bangladesh has urgently recalled its acting Deputy High Commissioner Sikandar Mohammad Ashrafur Rahman, posted in Kolkata, for consultations amid protests in Kolkata over attacks on Hindu minorities. Rahman, who is also Bangladesh's Minister of Political Affairs, has returned to Dhaka.

A senior official of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata said that Ashrafur Rahman has been called for urgent talks following the ongoing protests outside our office in Kolkata. Apart from this, he will be part of the delegation during the foreign secretary level talks between the two countries next week. He will return by the middle of this month.

Political parties and religious groups staged several protests in front of the Deputy High Commission in Kolkata last week condemning atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. In a related development, the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, has suspended all its services till further notice for security reasons.

There was uproar in Bangladesh after the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmay Krishna Das

Bangladesh made this announcement after a group of people protesting the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmay Krishna Das in the country forcibly entered the Assistant High Commission in Agartala on Monday. Amid rising tensions, the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry had summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka to register its protest over the vandalism at the Assistant High Commission in Agartala.

Mohammad Yunus government is harming the interests of India

It should be noted that relations between India and Bangladesh have been tense ever since former PM Hasina was removed from power. The attitude of the government headed by Nobel Prize winner Professor Mohammad Yunus is completely anti-India. Such decisions are being taken continuously which are going to harm the interests of India. Along with this, minority Hindus are also being constantly attacked and the government agencies are not taking it seriously.

The way the Yunus government is emphasizing on its relations with Pakistan is also a cause of concern for India. During the tenure of the BNP's Khaleda Zia government before the Hasina government, Bangladesh had become a hub of pro-Pakistan terrorist organizations. The way the Hasina government had imposed restrictions on Pakistan's activities is now being gradually relaxed.
