Bengaluru: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's son and chairman of Siddhartha Vihar Trust, Rahul Kharge, has written a letter to the CEO of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), seeking cancellation of ownership of the five-acre plot allotted to the Siddhartha Vihar Trust.
In a letter to the CEO of KIADB dated September 20, 2024, Rahul said, "We withdraw the proposal and request the board to cancel the allotment of the plot requested for the Multi Skill Development Center and Research Center in Bengaluru." Rahul has taken this step after the return of 14 plots by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvati in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case.
The trust does not want to be embroiled in controversies
Priyank Kharge, the younger son of the Congress president, shared this information on his X handle along with scanned copies of the letter. Priyank wrote that the trust was eligible to apply and receive the allotment of land for the educational institution. However, no institution can function effectively while facing malicious politically motivated allegations. The trust does not want to get embroiled in controversies, so it has written a letter to KIADB and withdrawn the proposal.
The controversy started in March
The trust had submitted the proposal to KIADB on February 12, 2024 and the proposal was approved a month later. The controversy over the five-acre plot began in March, when the Siddaramaiah government gave the land to the Siddhartha Vihar Trust. BJP IT department in-charge Amit Malviya had questioned the plot allotment, calling it 'abuse of power, nepotism and conflict of interest'.
Rajya Sabha member Siroya said- truth has won
Lahar Singh Siroya, BJP Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka, said truth has won. He posted on Twitter: "The Kharge family has returned five acres of illegally allotted land. When I raised this issue, Kharge junior and his associates threatened and abused me. Truth has won."
After all, this could be a strategic move to gain the CM's chair. It is worth noting that Siroya had issued a statement on the internet media and raised questions on land allotment. Let us tell you that an investigation is going on against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in the Muda scam.
