New Delhi. The Supreme Court today heard the case of irregularities in the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam) exam related to medical admission. A PIL was filed in the Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of NEET-UG 2024. However, the court rejected the demand to cancel the exam. At the same time, the court said that counseling will also not be canceled.
Court issued notice to NTA
While hearing the matter, the court also reprimanded the National Testing Agency. The court said that the sanctity of the examination has been affected. At the same time, the court has also issued a notice to NTA on this entire matter.
What argument did the petitioner give?
The petition filed by two members of an organisation working for the aid and benefit of students said that the news of NEET paper leak has shocked them to the core as many bright students have lost the opportunity to become doctors in future.
The petition further states, "The petitioners are filing the present petition only for the purpose of providing justice to the aggrieved students, who had invested their entire time, hard-earned money and energy in preparing for NEET, 2024 with the assistance of their respective family members but were not given a similar opportunity."
According to the petition, some students have secured 718 and 719 marks, which is statistically impossible. The entire examination was conducted in an arbitrary and irrational manner and with a malicious intent to give backdoor entry to students.
No paper was leaked: NTA
Earlier, NTA Director General Subodh Kumar Singh had clarified the questions raised about irregularities in the examination. He had said, "Our committee met and studied all the details of the centers and CCTV.
He further said that NTA found that time was wasted at some centres and students should be compensated for this. The committee will consider the complaints of the students. At the same time, the irregularities will be resolved.
However, Subodh Kumar Singh claimed that no paper was leaked in the examination hall. At the same time, the entire examination process was extremely transparent.
