The US Supreme Court has approved the extradition of Mumbai attack convict Tahawwur Rana to India. The court has rejected his review petition against his conviction in the case.
India has been seeking the extradition of Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian citizen convicted of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks of 2008, for several years.
Rana lost the last legal battle too
This was the last legal chance for terrorist Rana to not be extradited to India. Earlier, he had lost the legal battle in several federal courts, including the US Court of Appeals for the Northern Circuit in San Francisco.
On November 13, Rana had filed a "petition for certiorari" in the US Supreme Court. The apex court rejected it on January 21, a day after Donald Trump was sworn in as US President.
The Supreme Court said that the petition is not acceptable. Rana is currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.
