Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh interim government advisor Mohammad Yunus met. The two leaders met in Bangkok. This is the second day of PM Modi's Thailand visit. Today PM Modi will also participate in the BIMSTEC Summit.
India is concerned about the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh
After the Sheikh Hasina government was ousted from power, relations between India and Bangladesh have become quite bitter. Many cases of atrocities on minorities (Hindus) living in Bangladesh have come to light during the rule of Mohammad Yunus. PM Modi himself has expressed concern over the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. It is expected that this issue would have been discussed in this meeting between the two leaders.
Let us tell you that on Thursday itself, PM Narendra Modi and Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus were seen together at the official dinner organized before the BIMSTEC summit.
Mohammad Yunus had commented on the Northeast state
Let us tell you that Mohammad Yunus' love for Pakistan and China is well known. Before his Thailand tour, Mohammad Yunus had visited China for four days. There, he had made controversial remarks about India's northeastern state, which India had strongly opposed.
A video of him is going viral in which he advocated the expansion of the Chinese economy. He not only described the northeastern states as landlocked but also said that Bangladesh is the only guardian of the sea in this region. Indian leaders strongly condemned this statement of Mohammad Yunus.
