24 hour ultimatum given to Manipur government
Now a statement has come from the spokesperson of the Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a Meitei civil rights group, who said, "All the representatives of the states and all the MLAs should sit together and take some decisive steps to resolve this crisis as soon as possible."
He further said, "If they do not take any decision to the satisfaction of the people of Manipur, they will have to face the anger of the people. We have given a 24-hour ultimatum to the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take decisive action against the armed militant groups."
Meanwhile, the Manipur government has also requested the Centre to review and remove AFSPA from areas falling under the jurisdiction of six police stations in the state.
The militants attacked with weapons
Another round of violence broke out in Manipur on Monday when 11 suspected militants attacked a police station and an adjacent CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) camp in Manipur's Jiribam district with sophisticated weapons. However, they were killed in an encounter. A day later, armed militants abducted six civilians, including women and children, from the same district.
