Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 Date: The bugle for assembly elections has been sounded in Maharashtra. On Tuesday (October 15), Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar held a press conference and announced the dates for the assembly elections. Voting for all 288 seats in the state will be held in one phase on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.   

There are total 9.63 crore voters in Maharashtra

Rajiv Kumar said that there are a total of 9 crore 63 lakh voters in Maharashtra. These include 4.97 crore men, 4.66 crore women and 1.85 crore young voters. For the first time, 20.93 lakh voters will vote. Voters above the age of 85 will be able to vote from home.

100186 polling station

100186 polling stations have been set up. A control room will be set up in every district. The Chief Election Commissioner said that participation of all voters is necessary in the elections, so we will vote. He appealed to all the candidates to follow the rules. The term of Maharashtra Assembly is ending on 26 November. 29 seats are reserved for SC. Whereas, 25 seats are reserved for ST.

Last date for filing nomination- October 29 

The election notification will be issued on October 22. The last date for filing nominations will be October 29. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till November 4. 


 

In the 2019 assembly elections, voting was held in a single phase on all seats. During this time, BJP and Shiv Sena got a clear majority but due to discord, Shiv Sena broke ties with the NDA alliance. Shiv Sena formed the government with NCP and Congress. In which Uddhav Thackeray became the CM.

Later, Shiv Sena split into two factions. In the year 2022, Eknath Shinde formed the government with BJP along with 40 MLAs. Eknath Shinde became the new CM of the state. After this, NCP also split into two factions. In the year 2023, NCP led by Ajit Pawar also joined the Mahayuti government of BJP and Shinde. 

Which are the major parties in Maharashtra?

There is a Mahayuti government in Maharashtra right now. It includes BJP, Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde , Ajit Pawar faction's NCP. At the same time, there is a Mahavikas Aghadi alliance in the opposition. It includes Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP). Apart from this, there is Union Minister Ramdas Athawale's Republican Party of India (RPI). Samajwadi Party and AIMIM also contest elections.
