New Delhi: As the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections are getting ready, the Election Commission has increased its monitoring in both the states. Under this, special observers will also be deployed in both the states soon.

This will be done on Tuesday as the last date for filing nominations ends in both Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Special observers will also include police and observers to check income and expenditure.

The commission had increased its monitoring as soon as the assembly elections were announced in both the states. During this period, observers were deployed in every assembly of both the states.

If sources are to be believed, the way political activities have increased in both the states, there is a need to be extra cautious. This is the reason why the commission is engaged in setting up a strict monitoring system in every district and assembly of both the states.

The commission held a meeting only last week

The commission has recently held a meeting with about 625 retired IAS, IPS and IRS officers of the country. It is believed that a large number of these officers have been deployed as general supervisors. The remaining officers are soon to be deployed as special supervisors.

When will the voting take place and when will the results come

Let us tell you that while voting for 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, voting for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in one phase on November 20. The election results of both the states will be declared on November 23.

The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has a strength of 288 members. The term of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is going to end on November 26. The last assembly elections were held in October 2019. The BJP-led NDA won a majority to form the government, but Shiv Sena left the alliance due to internal opposition.

Shiv Sena formed a new alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi with NCP and Congress. Maha Vikas Aghadi formed the government in the state with Uddhav Thackeray becoming the Chief Minister. However, Uddhav Thackeray's government fell after a few days and an NDA government was formed under the leadership of Eknath Shinde.

The term of Jharkhand Assembly is going to end on 5 January 2025. The number of members in the state assembly is 81. For a majority, any party or alliance needs to get 41 seats.
