Lucknow. One of the reasons for low voting in the sixth phase of elections held for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh was the minimum participation of men. This reason is clearly visible in the final figures of voting percentage released by the Election Commission on Tuesday.

In the elections held on May 26 for the 14 Lok Sabha seats of the state, the lowest number of votes were cast at 54.04 percent. Here 51.31 percent men and 57.12 percent women exercised their franchise. There was a difference of 5.81 percent in the voting percentage of men and women. In the fifth phase also, the voting percentage of women was better than that of men.

In the sixth phase, Dumariyaganj and Lalganj seats saw a gap of about 10 percent between the voting percentage of women and men. In Sant Kabir Nagar and Azamgarh too, a big difference was seen in the voting percentage of both. Apart from this, women voters outnumbered men in Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Basti, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr, Pratapgarh, Shravasti and Sitapur. In the sixth phase, Phulpur was the only seat where the voting percentage of men was better than women.
