Farmers Protest Punjab: The case of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on indefinite hunger strike in support of various demands of farmers, has taken a new turn. Angry with the attitude of Punjab and Central Government on this issue, 10 more farmers have sat on hunger strike at Khanauri agitation site. Apart from Dallewal, 111 farmers of Punjab are on indefinite hunger strike.

Addressing reporters at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana, farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohad said that 10 farmers from Haryana's Hisar, Sonipat, Panipat and Jind districts began a fast unto death on Friday.

'Farmers are ready to make sacrifices'

Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohad said, 'Today the farmers of the country are ready to sacrifice themselves by following the path shown by Jagjit Singh Dallewal. The farmers of the country understand that Dallewal has been on hunger strike for 53 days to save his land, farming and the coming generation. We all stand shoulder to shoulder with him.'

Meanwhile, farmer leaders said that Dallewal's health is 'deteriorating' and he vomited three-four times on Thursday night. He is able to drink only 150-200 ml of water. Earlier, farmers had said that Dallewal's water intake has reduced. Whenever he drinks water, he vomits. Jagjit Singh Dallewal has refused to take any medical help during his fast.

Let us tell you that under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, farmers have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana since February 13, 2024. The security forces had stopped them from marching to Delhi to pressurize the central government to accept other demands including legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Dallewal, convener of SKM (non-political), has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Khanauri border since November 26 last year over various demands of farmers.
