The cycle of violence in Manipur is not showing any signs of stopping. The conflict between the Kuki and Meitei communities continues here. Now information is coming that Kuki militants attacked the Central Reserve Police Force on Friday midnight, in which two CRPF soldiers were martyred.
Giving information about this, Manipur Police said that between late Friday night and around 2.15 am, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers lost their lives in the attack by Kuki militants. Both these soldiers belonged to the 128th battalion of CRPF deployed in the Naransena area of the Bishnupur district of Manipur.
Miscreants opened fire in 3 districts
Earlier, the miscreants fired at each other in three districts, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul, and Trijunction district of Imphal East. Two people from the Kuki community died in this firing. After this, after 2 days of cross-firing between Heirok and Tengnoupal of Thoubal district, violence broke out again in Moirangpurel of Imphal East district. In which armed miscreants from both Kangpokpi and Imphal East were involved.
Violence broke out last year
More than 180 people have been killed in Manipur since caste violence broke out on May 3 last year following the 'Tribal Solidarity March' organized in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. The Meiteis constitute about 53 percent of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal Valley, while the tribals, including the Nagas and Kukis, constitute 40 percent and live mainly in the hill districts.
