An elephant suddenly attacked people in Kuttanad area of ​​Palakkad, Kerala. The elephant's mahout Kunjumon died in this attack. Actually, an annual festival was organized in a temple in Kuttanad, Palakkad. On Thursday night at around 10:45 pm, this decorated elephant suddenly got furious. The elephant's mahout Kunjumon tried to control it but was unsuccessful. 

The elephant first crushed the mahout. After that, it caused heavy damage to the shops built around the temple and the vehicles parked there. Although after a lot of struggle, the elephant was somehow brought under control, but after being taken to the hospital, the mahout Kunjumon died. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

Elderly man dies in elephant attack

A 60-year-old man was killed in a wild elephant attack in Idukki district on February 6 (Thursday) morning. The deceased has been identified as Vimal. According to police, the incident took place in a tribal settlement in Champakkad under the limits of Marayur police station. A police officer said that on receiving information, a police team went to the area.

A similar incident had happened on February 4

An elephant mauled a man to death at Ilavalli in Thrissur district on February 4 (Tuesday). The deceased was identified as Anand (38), who had come to attend a festival organised at the temple reportedly for business purposes. The incident occurred when the elephant was being bathed. According to Pavaratti police, the elephant turned aggressive and attacked Anand, leaving him severely injured. The elephant's mahout, Nakamura, also sustained serious injuries and is being treated at a hospital here, they said. The elephant, brought for the temple festival, went out of control and entered a residential area. The elephant squad members and mahouts struggled hard to control the animal, police said.
