A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus collided with a car in Alappuzha, Kerala on Monday night. Five youths travelling in the car died in this accident. All were MBBS students. According to the police, the accident took place near Kalarcode at around 10 pm.
News agency PTI reported, citing police sources, that the car was completely damaged due to the collision and the occupants were pulled out after the vehicle was dismantled.
The deceased were MBBS students at a government medical college
Police said that the deceased have not been identified yet. It is being told that all of them are MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) students of Government Medical College. Police said that there were seven people in the car, out of which five died. Two other passengers in the bus have suffered minor injuries.
Police said vehicular movement on the road was affected following the accident, although the reason for the same is yet to be ascertained.
IPS officer died in a road accident
In another tragic incident, a 26-year-old Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, who was on his way to take up his first posting in Karnataka's Hassan district, died in a road accident, police said on Monday.
Police said Harsh Vardhan (IPS Harsh Vardhan Died) was a 2023 batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre and hailed from Madhya Pradesh. Police said the accident occurred on Sunday evening when the tire of the police vehicle allegedly burst near Kittane in Hassan taluk, following which the driver lost control and the vehicle collided with a roadside house and a tree.
In this accident, the IPS officer died in the hospital and the driver was injured.
