The Supreme Court today heard the anticipatory bail plea of ​​former IAS trainee Pooja Khedkar. The court has stayed her arrest.

 

A bench of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma on Wednesday issued notice to the Delhi government and UPSC on Khedkar's petition seeking anticipatory bail. The Supreme Court will hear the matter next on January 14.

 

I have no criminal record: Pooja Khedkar

According to the court's direction, Pooja Khedkar cannot be arrested till the next hearing. Pooja Khedkar has also argued that she has no criminal record and she is an unmarried disabled woman. Pooja Khedkar is accused of giving false information to avail reservation in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

 

What did the High Court say while delivering the verdict?

On December 23 last year, the Delhi High Court refused to grant him bail. The High Court had said that prima facie a strong case is made out against Khedkar. At the same time, an investigation is needed to find out the 'big conspiracy' to manipulate the system.

 

UPSC also filed a case

UPSC also registered a criminal case against Pooja Khedkar for appearing in the civil services examination on the basis of fake identity. Delhi Police had registered an FIR against Pooja Khedkar for various crimes. Khedkar was granted interim protection from arrest on August 12, 2024 when the High Court issued notice on her anticipatory bail plea and it was extended from time to time.
