Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday alleged that he was being unnecessarily targeted in the fraudulent land allotment case. He claimed a conspiracy was being hatched against him because he belonged to the backward class community and had become chief minister for the second time.

It is alleged that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has given a plot worth crores in a posh area to the Chief Minister's wife Parvati. However, the documents state that this plot in a posh area has been given to her in exchange for the acquisition of about four acres of land owned by Parvati. The BJP is calling this alternative land allotment illegal.

Today we will do a grand demonstration in Mysore

This reaction from Siddaramaiah has come at a time when BJP state president BY Vijayendra has announced a massive protest against this land scam on July 12 in Siddaramaiah's home district Mysuru. The Chief Minister said, "Have we not given the MUDA scam for investigation? The BJP is doing all these things for politics. If they do politics, we will also have to do politics." When asked about the BJP targeting his wife over land allotment, Siddaramaiah said, "They will have to tell where it is illegal. We are saying that things are legal."

BJP demanded investigation

At the same time, BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court NV Anjariya requesting him to take suo motu cognizance of the MUDA scam and initiate a case in which Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife is involved as a beneficiary. BJP leader CT Ravi has termed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's defense as dishonest.
