Kanpur News: Kanpur Police has arrested two smugglers while taking action against sandalwood smugglers. Police has recovered 113 kg of sandalwood from the smugglers. The seized wood is said to be worth crores of rupees in the international market. However, the type of sandalwood has not been revealed yet. Police has arrested both the smugglers Aqib and Zeeshan and recovered Rs 1.18 lakh and sandalwood from them.
Actually Aqib and Zeeshan, residents of Kannauj, were involved in smuggling for a long time and used to smuggle sandalwood from one city to another. Their smuggled sandalwood used to reach many districts of Uttar Pradesh. The police was trying to catch these smugglers for a long time but every time they used to escape by dodging the police. This time the accurate information of the informer has given success to the Sisamau police of Kanpur.
Police is investigating the network of smugglers.
Sisamau police laid a trap on the information of an informer and arrested two smugglers red handed who were carrying sandalwood worth crores. At present, the police is trying to find out by interrogating these smugglers as to who else is involved in smuggling. In which cities and to whom did they sell or deliver the sandalwood.
Regarding this action, Sisamau police station in-charge Himanshu said that both the smugglers caught are residents of Kannauj. Several cases are registered against them in different police stations of Kannauj. Action has been taken on the information of an informer while carrying sandalwood. It is also being investigated to whom they used to supply the goods.
