The Israeli military carried out three separate air strikes on Gaza City early on Tuesday, killing at least 24 Palestinians, Gaza health officials and doctors said.

The dead included the sister of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the militant Islamist group Hamas. Local residents said Israeli tanks rolled into western neighbourhoods of Rafah, south of the enclave, overnight, blowing up several houses. Israeli air strikes hit two schools in Gaza City, killing at least 14 people, medics said.

More than 37 thousand Palestinians have died in the war so far

Another 10 people were killed in another attack in the Shati (beach) camp, one of the eight historic refugee camps in the Gaza Strip. The Shati camp belonged to the family of Hamas political chief Haniyeh. His sister, other family members and doctors were killed in the attack. The Gaza Health Ministry said in a statement that more than 37,658 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military attacks on Gaza since October 7.

Supreme Court gives a blow to Netanyahu

At the same time, Israel's Supreme Court ruled that the army should start drafting ultra-Orthodox men for mandatory service. This decision of the court could lead to the collapse of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling coalition. Earlier, ultra-Orthodox men in Israel had a broad exemption from military service.
