Live chicken is being sold at Rs 490, onion at Rs 60 per kg, up from Rs 40, while pickled chillies are being sold at Rs 200 per kg, up from Rs 110. The price of lemon has increased considerably. There has been no reduction in the price of fruits either; apples are being sold at Rs 400 per kg and bananas at Rs 200 per dozen.

 

What was the price of non-veg during Ramadan?

As soon as Ramadan started, the price of broiler chicken in Karachi increased by 120 to 150 rupees per kg. With this, the price of broiler chicken increased to 720 to 800 Pakistani rupees per kg.

 

LPG prices also increased

Meanwhile, an increase in the price of LPG was also announced yesterday. The price of LPG has been increased by 54 paise per kilogram.

The new price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Pakistan has been fixed at Pakistani Rupees 248.37 per kilogram, effective from April 1, according to a notification issued by the Oil, Gas and Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

The price of 11.8 kg domestic LPG cylinder has increased by Pakistani rupees 6.40, making the new price at Pakistani rupees 2,930.71.

 

What is the Pakistan government doing?

To control the price of chicken, the Pakistani government has fixed its price, but its effect is not visible. The government's order is being flouted in the retail markets of many cities of Pakistan. Shopkeepers are selling chicken at a much higher price than the government price.

There was a huge increase in the demand for chicken during Ramadan. It was being said that the demand for chicken had increased by 40 percent. Due to this, its price has also increased.
