New Delhi: Congress has demanded the resignation of Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, accusing him of alleged links with the kingpin of the drug racket caught in Madhya Pradesh by Gujarat Police and NCB. Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari claimed on Friday that there are hundreds of photos and videos of Devda with the kingpin of the drug racket worth thousands of crores caught in Bhopal.

He also alleged that it is not a mere coincidence that at least 500 photos and videos related to the drug peddler and the Deputy CM are available on the internet media. Patwari targeted the BJP and said that when it has been proved that the drug peddler is one of the closest aides of the Deputy CM, then why is the party protecting him.

Jeetu Patwari demanded the dismissal of Deora

While addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters here, Jitu Patwari urged the Prime Minister to intervene in view of the serious allegations against the Deputy CM and demanded that Deora be dismissed. He said that if this is not done, the intentions of the BJP and the Central Government will be questioned.

'We have succeeded in creating 2 crore drug addicts in the country'

While talking about the growing problem of drug addiction in the country, he claimed, citing the statistics of the Central Government, that every year about two crore cases of drug addiction are being reported. The Congress leader quipped that the Modi government could not fulfill the promise of giving two crore jobs every year, but it has succeeded in creating two crore drug addicts in the country every year.

Patwari, citing the example of the drug confiscation in Bhopal, said that Madhya Pradesh is not ruled by the BJP but by different types of mafias, which include "education mafia, mining mafia, liquor mafia and drug mafia etc."
