The number of Indian students choosing American universities is constantly increasing. According to the Open Doors report published by the Institute of International Education on Monday, more than 3.3 lakh students from India are studying in America.

For the first time in the last 15 years, India has become the country sending the highest number of foreign students to the US. China was at the top of this list in the academic year 2022-23. There has been an increase of 23 percent in this country since the last academic year.

Indian students increased so much since last year

The share of Indian students among foreign students studying in the US has reached 29 per cent. India is now the leading country for international students in the US, the US embassy said in a release.

There are more than 2 lakh Chinese students in America

After India, China is at the second place with 277398 students studying in America. South Korea (43,149) is at the third place, Canada (28,998) at the fourth and Taiwan (23,157) at the fifth. The Open Doors Report has been published by the Institute of International Education. IIE releases a study on the number of foreign students in America annually.

India on top for the first time since 2008

According to the information received from the US Embassy in India, for the first time since 2008-2009, India is on top in terms of sending its students to America. This is the highest number of Indian children studying in America till date. The academic session in America generally begins in September and continues till May.
