
India France Mega Deal: The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has approved the mega deal to buy 26 Rafale marine fighter jets from France for the Indian Navy. This deal is worth around Rs 63,000 crore. This deal will be finalised and signed soon.
Under this agreement, the Navy will get 22 single-seater and 4 twin-seater Rafale marine aircraft, which will be deployed on the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. After this decision, the Defense Ministry will now complete the process of agreement with the French government.

Apart from this, it also includes maintenance of the jets, logistical support, training of naval personnel, and a special plan for some parts to be made in India. Under this deal, Indian Navy personnel will also be trained to fly and handle Rafale M.
The first delivery of Rafale M jets can begin by the end of 2029. All 26 jets will be delivered to the Indian Navy by 2031. These fighter jets will be deployed on Indian aircraft carriers like INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant. These will replace the old MiG-29K fighter jets, which have now become obsolete.
The Rafale M jets are specially designed to take off and land from aircraft carriers. It includes strong landing gear, arrester hooks and STOBAR technology (which helps the aircraft take off from a shorter distance and land quickly). This deal will greatly enhance the strength of the Indian Navy.
Features of Rafale M for Indian Navy
The Rafale M fighter jets being purchased for the Indian Navy have been specially designed according to the marine requirements. These jets are capable of carrying dangerous and advanced missiles like Meteor, Exocet and SCALP, which makes their combat capability very strong.
Special technology of Rafale M
- It is equipped with AESA radar (Active Electronically Scanned Array), which helps in identifying the enemy quickly and accurately.
- There is also the SPECTRA electronic warfare system, which helps the jet to hide, evade and protect it from enemy attack.
- This jet can reach speeds of Mach 1.8 (about twice the speed of sound).
- Its combat range is more than 1,850 kilometers.
- The jet has the facility of mid-air refueling, allowing it to fly longer and carry out long-range missions.
