A YouTube singer has been arrested in Iran for giving a concert without wearing a hijab. Iranian authorities have arrested a female singer who gave a virtual concert on YouTube. According to her lawyer Milad Panahipour, Parastu Ahmadi was detained on Saturday in the city of Sari in Mazandaran province, about 280 km from Iran's capital Tehran.
Her arrest came after she posted her concert online on Thursday, where she was seen performing with open hair, wearing a sleeveless collared black dress along with four male singers. The concert has been viewed over 1.5 million times on the video-sharing platform.

The woman's name is being told as Ms. Ahmadi, she also wrote a post on social media about her singing. She wrote, 'I am Parastu, a girl who wants to sing for the people I love. This is a right I cannot ignore.' Ahmadi further wrote, I sing for the land I love passionately. Here, in this part of our beloved Iran, where history and our myths are intertwined, listen to my voice in this imaginary concert and imagine this beautiful homeland
This program was organized without audience
The concert, shot in Iran, was held without an audience. Ahmadi and her four-member supporting crew performed outside on a stage in a traditional caravanserai complex. According to the report, the lawyer also confirmed that two male musicians, Soheil Fagih Nasiri and Ehsan Beraghdar, were arrested in Tehran on the same day. Hijab was made compulsory by Iranian law in the years following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
