New Delhi. Due to increased humidity during monsoon, the production of oil in the skin also increases, due to which the pores get clogged and due to this acne starts appearing. Humidity outside and cold air of AC inside can cause dehydration and dryness in such temperatures. Apart from this, the humid environment also promotes fungal infection. Apart from acne, many times problems like hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone can also increase in such weather. If you do not want to fall prey to all these problems, then know some important things related to skin care in monsoon.

Choose the right moisturizer

Choosing the right moisturizer for monsoon is important. Use a light and oil-free moisturizer that keeps the skin hydrated without clogging your pores . Gel-based moisturizers are best for this season. Buy products containing hyaluronic acid, kojic acid, arbutin and peptides. These keep the skin soft and hydrated while retaining moisture.

Do soft cleansing

Cleansing regularly is an important part of skincare, so don't skip it even during monsoons. Use a gentle, hydrating cleanser that can remove dirt and impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils. Also, be aware that over-cleansing can cause dryness and irritation , so don't wash your face more than twice a day.

Exfoliate regularly

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin and promotes cell renewal, leaving your skin smooth and hydrated. However, over-exfoliating can damage the skin barrier and increase dryness. Use a scrub once or twice a week to keep your skin refreshed and hydrated. Choose products with ingredients like jojoba beads or chemical exfoliants like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) to improve your skin texture.

Use a hydrating serum

Serums with hydrating ingredients like niacinamide, ceramides, glycerin, and vitamin E provide extra moisture to the skin. Apply a serum first and then a moisturizer after cleansing to lock in hydration and keep your skin supple.

Protect your skin

It is not just the harsh sun that is harmful to the skin, even if the weather is cloudy during monsoon, UV rays can damage your skin. To protect your skin from the damage caused by the sun rays, use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Apply sunscreen that is water resistant and non-comedogenic, so that the pores do not get clogged and acne does not occur.

Do not use hot water and harsh products

It may feel good to take a hot bath during the rainy season, but this can also strip the skin of its natural oils, which can make the skin dry. Instead, take a bath with normal or lukewarm water. Skincare products containing alcohol, strong fragrances or astringents can damage the skin and remove natural moisture.

Eat a balanced diet

Taking a diet rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants helps maintain skin moisture. For this, include foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like fish, flaxseed and walnuts in your diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables, especially water-rich vegetables like cucumber, tomato and watermelon, keep the skin hydrated. Apart from this, keep a target of drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water throughout the day to remove dirt from the body and maintain skin elasticity.
