A heart-wrenching incident took place in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Two minor children of a family from Gujarat died after drowning in the Ganga river here. Police said that the incident took place at 10 am at Santmat Ghat in Saptarishi area of North Haridwar. After the incident, the tears of the family members are not stopping.
Brother and sister got drowned during bath
The family of Vipulbhai Pawar, a resident of Bajipura village in Tapi district of Gujarat, was taking a bath in the Ganga. Meanwhile, Pawar's 13-year-old daughter Pratyusha and six-year-old son Darsh suddenly started flowing in the strong current of the Ganga. The family and other devotees present at the ghat ran to save the children but due to the strong current and deep water, both the children disappeared from sight.
A mountain of sorrow fell on the family
As soon as the information of the incident was received, the police reached the spot and started searching for the children with the help of water police and divers. After some time, both were taken out of the water in an unconscious state near Thokar No. 13. Police said that both were immediately taken to Haridwar District Hospital where doctors declared both of them dead. The bodies of the children have been kept safe for post-mortem. After the incident, a mountain of sorrow has fallen on the family. The untimely death of the children also saddened other devotees present at the ghat.
