Haryana Assembly Election Results: BJP seems to be heading towards a big victory in Haryana, while Congress may have improved its numbers compared to the last election, but it is far from the majority figure. According to the data recorded on the Election Commission's website till 3.30 pm, both BJP and Congress have won 15 seats each, BJP is ahead on 35 seats while Congress is leading on 20 seats. However, now discussions are intensifying on the reasons for Congress's defeat and BJP's victory.

Reasons for the defeat of Congress

  • In Haryana, it was seen that Bhupendra Singh Hooda had control over the Congress. The rest of the leaders were seen outside. Their dominance was also seen in ticket distribution.
  • Congress kept leaning towards Jats during the election campaign but in the process it distanced itself from non-Jats and other communities.
  • Discord within the Congress is also being considered the reason for this result. The rift between Kumari Selja and Hooda was clearly visible.
  • Congress raised the issue of Agniveer, farmer and wrestler loudly but it did not seem to have any impact in the elections.
  • People probably did not trust the guarantee given by Congress as in the neighbouring state Himachal Pradesh, Congress seemed to have failed in fulfilling its promise.

Reason for BJP's victory

  • There was an anti-incumbency wave against the BJP, but the BJP dispelled the 10-year anti-incumbency wave in six months by changing the CM.
  • It is being said about BJP that it worked on OBC, Dalit and non-Jat voters.
  • BJP distanced itself from those parties in the alliance which seemed like a burden to it. It distanced itself from JJP before the Lok Sabha elections .
  • BJP contested the elections alone, which benefited it.
  • It is being said that BJP has also benefited from the ground work of RSS in Haryana.
