New Delhi: The war between Hamas and Israel is not stopping. It has been a year since the attack by Hamas on Israel and new revelations are still being made about it. Palestinian terrorist group Hamas had carried out a fierce attack on Israel. More than 1,200 people were killed in the attack and hundreds were taken hostage, which plunged the region into fresh violence and led to an all-out war.
While the attack appeared sudden and shocking to the international community, reports have now emerged about the attack. Recently discovered documents suggest that the attack was years in the making and could have been executed earlier, potentially leading to an attack similar to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in the United States.
Western countries say that all these organizations get help from Iran, but Iran has denied the Hamas attack on October 7.
Asked for help from Iran and Hezbollah
According to media reports, Hamas originally planned the October 7 attack last year. The group had sought help from Iran and Hezbollah, seeking to strengthen its military capabilities and secure additional funding. These findings, drawn from documents and correspondence between Hamas leaders and Iranian officials, reveal meticulous planning whose ambitions extend far beyond the deadly events of October 7.
Amas leader Yahya Sinwar, who played a central role in these discussions, was joined by top commanders Muhammad Deif, Marwan Issa, and his brother Muhammad Sinwar. The meetings began in January 2022 and continued until August 2023, with participants discussing logistical strategies and potential targets. During an initial meeting in 2022, the leaders decided to avoid prematurely escalating tensions with Israel, instead focusing on a "big project" that would involve unprecedented coordination and resources.
Hamas's plan stopped because of Gaza
But Hamas's plans were halted by Gaza. The group actively sought financial and military support from regional powers, especially Iran. In early June 2021, Sinwar wrote to Iranian officials seeking financial support for the eventual October 7 attack.
