Islamabad: Weekend protests by jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's party have caused damages worth around Rs 240 million in the capital Islamabad, including damaged public and private property, according to a media report.

The report submitted by the Islamabad Inspector General's Office to the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad provides information related to the violent protests carried out over the weekend by workers and supporters of Imran's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

After the Pak government introduced the constitutional amendment, Imran Khan called for a protest rally demanding independence of the judiciary. The party selected the D-Chowk venue for the protest and also demanded the release of Imran during this.

Geo News quoted a police report as saying that 441 Safe City cameras worth Rs 14 crore were also destroyed during the protest. Apart from this, 10 police vehicles, 31 motorcycles and 51 gas masks were also damaged.
