New Delhi.  External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent India at the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan. The summit to be held on July 3 and 4 is expected to focus on the regional security situation and ways to boost connectivity and trade.

Many issues including war will be discussed 

During this, the situation in Afghanistan, the Ukraine conflict and promoting overall security cooperation among the SCO member countries are also expected to be discussed. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has given this information.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) comprises India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It is an influential economic and security bloc that has emerged as one of the largest inter-regional international organisations.

Kazakhstan is hosting the summit 

Usually the Prime Minister attends the SCO summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday conveyed India's full support to Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the success of the summit.

Kazakhstan is hosting the summit as the current chair. India was the chair of the SCO last year. It hosted the SCO summit in virtual format in July last year.
