Almost everyone knows the story of the abduction of Mother Sita by Ravana as described in Ramayana. But have you ever wondered why Ravana left the prosperous and golden Lanka and kept Mother Sita in Ashok Vatika. The reason for this was a curse given to Ravana, about which we are going to tell you today.

I got this curse

According to the story described in Ravana Samhita, once Ravana was fascinated by the beauty of Apsara Rambha and tried to take her to his palace by force. Then Rambha said that I am the wife of Nalakubera, so in this respect I am like your daughter-in-law. But still Ravana did not agree.

When Nalakubar came to know about this, he became very angry. In anger, Nalakubar cursed Ravana that if you try to bring any woman to your palace without her consent or try to touch her without her consent, you will be reduced to ashes at that very moment.

Mother Sita lived in Ashok Vatika

Due to this curse given to Ravana by Nalakubar, Ravana kept Mata Sita in Ashok Vatika instead of his palace. In such a situation, if he even tried to touch Mata Sita without her consent, his death was certain.

It is also believed to be the reason

Mother Sita was a devoted wife. In such a situation, Ravana knew that she would never accept to stay in the palace of her own free will. At the same time, due to the curse, he could not go against the wishes of Mother Sita, so Ravana thought it appropriate to keep Mother Sita in Ashok Vatika.
