Liver is a powerhouse of the body, which detoxifies the body, helps in the process of bile production, metabolism of nutrients and protein synthesis. It also balances hormones. Liver is the largest organ of the body. In today's modern lifestyle, where the body is affected by many types of chemicals and heavy metals, these put pressure on the liver. What is fatty liver?

When fat starts accumulating on the liver cells, it has many inflammatory effects on the body, this condition is called fatty liver. This fat is caused more by refined carbohydrates than dietary fat which are found in soda, candy, flour, bakery products. Fatty liver is a sign of extra insulin.

 

When we eat a diet rich in refined carbs and sugar, it puts extra pressure on the liver. Glucose is converted into triglycerides and body fat through the process of lipogenesis. Most of this fat gets stored in the liver which causes many other diseases like diabetes, heart attack , stroke, PCOS, obesity etc. Fatty liver is now a days seen even in younger people. The good thing is that no strong chemical or medicine is required to detox the liver. Fatty liver can be reversed by simply changing the lifestyle and following a healthy lifestyle. In such a situation, it can be managed in these ways-

  • Do not consume saturated fat.
  • Include olive oil and desi ghee in your diet.
  • Stay away from red meats like bacon, and white bread.
  • Eat foods like walnuts, avocado, green vegetables, sunflower seeds and oats.
