Earthquake tremors were felt in this part of the country on Saturday. The tremors were felt in the high altitude areas of northern Kasargod district of Kerala in the early hours of Saturday. However, it is being said that mild tremors were felt. Police has given this information and said that there is no news of any kind of damage. Vellarikund police quoted villagers as saying that tremors were felt for a few seconds in Malom, Rajapuram, Konnakkad and surrounding areas and people started leaving their houses and running out.

A police official said, "People said that they felt the earthquake tremors in their village and also heard some unnatural sounds from under the ground." Police further said that some people in these areas said that due to the earthquake tremors, their phones fell down from the table and the cots kept in their house also shook. Police said that the district administration officials will soon visit this village and conduct a detailed investigation and whatever information is received after that will be shared.
