
News Topical, Digital Desk : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led a protest at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday demanding President's assent to the Backward Classes reservation bill. He alleged that the BJP-led central government was blocking bills passed by the state legislature, terming them anti-OBC.
Telangana CM protested for approval of the bill
The Telangana Assembly in March passed two bills to increase reservation for OBCs in education, employment and local bodies to 42 per cent. The bills were sent to the governor and are currently awaiting the President's assent.

DMK MP Kanimozhi, NCP(LP) leader Supriya Sule, Samajwadi Party's Dharmendra Yadav and CPI(M)'s V Sivadasan were among those present at the protest on Wednesday.
Thanking the INDIAA leaders for their support, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X that the proposed law is a major step towards the Constitution's vision of social justice based on caste census data.

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said in another post on Twitter that this step of the Telangana government will strengthen social justice.
