Varanasi. Earthquake tremors were felt in Sonbhadra on Saturday. The magnitude of the earthquake that occurred at 3.49 pm on Sunday was 3.9. The epicentre of the earthquake was ten kilometres below the earth's surface between Churuk and Markundi.

District disaster expert Pawan Shukla said that there was no loss of life or property in the district due to the earthquake. Sonbhadra is in a safe zone in terms of earthquake. Neither the tremors of the earthquake were felt nor any damage has been reported.

Prof. Gyan Prakash Singh, the head of the Department of Geophysics of BHU, said that there was an earthquake in Sonbhadra, its report has been sent to the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Scientists will study the earthquake, only after that something can be said in the matter.
