Bangladesh Violence: Chinmay Krishnan Das, President of ISKCON Pundarik Dham, was arrested on Monday (25 November) in Chittagong, Bangladesh, a neighboring country of India. The situation has been deteriorating since then. People of Hindu society have come out on the streets against the arrest. Meanwhile, BNP and Jamaat workers attacked Hindus. About 50 people were injured in this attack. Late last night, thousands of Hindus took out a huge torch rally in Maulvi Bazar, chanting Jai Siya Ram and Har Har Mahadev.
Chittagong University professor Kushal Baran was also attacked during a meeting in Shahbagh. Many injured protesters have been admitted to the hospital. Surprisingly, the administration and police did not take any action during these violent incidents. The police and administration remained silent spectators during the Shahbagh attack. Bengal BJP President reacted sharply
West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar condemned these incidents and called Chinmay Prabhu's arrest unjust. He appealed to Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar to take this issue seriously and take immediate action. Sukanta Majumdar wrote on X (earlier Twitter) that Chinmay Prabhu was constantly fighting for the rights of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government is being sharply criticized for his arrest.
Reasons for arrest and police's explanation
Bangladesh Police arrested Chinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari from Dhaka airport on Monday. According to Rezaul Karim, spokesperson of the police's detective branch, the arrest has been made as per the legal procedure. Chinmay Das was handed over to the concerned police station for further action. At the same time, these incidents have raised serious questions on the safety of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. The violent attitude of fundamentalist groups and the inaction of the administration have attracted the attention of the international community.
